About Mac Johnson Roofing
Rooted in North Central Florida
Mac Johnson Roofing has operated out of Newberry, Florida since 1980. Our office sits seven miles west of Gainesville, which means we reach most customers quickly. Over four decades, our crew has worked on residential homes, rental properties, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities across Gainesville, Marion County, Columbia County, and Levy County.
We know the roofs here. Summer heat cracks asphalt shingles faster than in cooler states. Heavy rain strains underlayment and flashing. Hurricane-season winds test every fastener and ridge cap. Our experience comes from working these exact conditions for over 40 years, not from reading about them.
We carry Florida state licensing and full insurance coverage. Every project follows Florida Building Code standards and local wind mitigation requirements.

Homeowners and Property Owners We Help
Most people call after a leak, storm damage, or a roof that has reached 15 to 25 years old. Some are Gainesville homeowners worried about an insurance claim. Others are landlords in Levy County or Putnam County needing a reliable repair without disrupting tenants. A number of clients manage commercial properties along the Butler Plaza corridor or in Ocala and need flat roofing or metal systems handled by a certified crew.
Everyone calls with the same unspoken question: do I really need a new roof, or can this be repaired?
We give honest answers. A homeowner near Kanapaha spotted water stains on her living room ceiling after a summer storm and assumed the worst. After inspection, we found isolated flashing failures near two roof vents. We repaired the flashing, replaced a small section of worn shingles, and reinforced attic ventilation. The repair cost a fraction of a full replacement and the roof held through every storm that followed.
We Inspect First. Then We Explain.
This is how every project starts. We walk the roof and examine shingles, underlayment, decking, flashing, ridge caps, and ventilation. We bring our findings down to the homeowner in plain language. You see the problem, understand your options, and decide what fits your budget.
We do not push replacements. Some roofs need them. Many do not. A property owner in High Springs managed a small rental complex with a flat roof that had failed twice under previous contractors. We inspected it properly, found drainage slope problems and failing membrane seams, and re-roofed only the two damaged sections. The fix held through the following wet season without another call.

What Homeowners Tell Us After the Job
Clients consistently report three things. The crew arrived on time. The job site was clean at the end of each day. Someone explained every step before any work began.
Those are not extras. That is how we work on every project, residential and commercial alike. Most residential replacements finish in two to three days. We remove all debris before we leave. If a question comes up after the project closes, we answer it directly.
We back every installation with a workmanship warranty. Manufacturer warranties on asphalt shingles, metal panels, and flat roofing materials provide additional long-term protection for your investment.
